The AK-ST7FMC Starter Kit is an integrated system designed to provide the user with a complete, ready-to-use motor control application. The Starter Kit is built around the STMicroelectronics ST7FMC microcontroller, which has a built-in, dedicated motor control peripheral. This peripheral is particularly suited to drive brushless motors (either induction or permanent magnet types). The Starter Kit demonstrates how effectively the ST7FMC family of microcontrollers can be used in real-world motor control applications. The Starter Kit is composed of a Motor Control board, a three-phase, permanent-magnet, brushless DC (BLDC) motor, plus an in-circuit debugger board and an Optoisolation board. The Motor Control board has a built-in power stage and is capable of directly driving both AC and DC motors.

Demonstration. Run the provided BLDC motor, or your own BLDC or AC motor in Open Loop mode, by selecting basic settings on the AK-ST7FMC Control Panel.
Evaluation. Explore all of the features by running the motor using various control strategies with the AK-ST7FMC Control Panel and its advanced settings. Save the settings by generating header files. Flash the ST7FMC microcontroller, run motor and apply changes to real-time settings to fine-tune driving parameters.
Development. Use the generated header files and the provided ST7FMC optimized C software library and build the final application around it. Develop the application using the real-time debugging feature of inDART-STX
(included) and the associated STVD7 Visual Debug IDE.
Application-Specific Requirements
Using the same hardware and firmware platform, it is possible to incorporate application-specific requirements by taking advantage of the Motor Control board's expansion features (UART/LIN port and transceiver, EEPROM, standalone operation potentiometers, sensor inputs, prototyping area, etc.). Applications can be built using a third party C-compiler (purchased separately).
