In-Circuit Emulators for STMicroelectronics ST FIVE Now Shipping
Featuring ZIF Socket for Device Programming and Evaluation Board

September 1, 2002 - The ICD-ST52430 and ICD-ST52440 In-Circuit Emulators (which support the new ST52x430 and the ST52x400/440 microcontrollers, respectively) are now shipping. These new emulator models complete the coverage of the ST FIVE 408 family, the new family of ICUs (Intelligent Controller Units) recently released by STMicroelectronics.

Together with the VISUALFIVE development environment, the ICD-ST52 Series In-Circuit Emulators provide you with everything you need to write, compile, program, in-circuit emulate and debug user code. In-circuit emulation allows you to use the actual inputs and outputs of your target system during simulation of your code.

ICD-ST52 Series In-Circuit Emulators are connected to the host PC through a parallel port, while the emulation pod fits into the target microcontroller’s socket. A full-featured experiment board is also included.

ICD-ST52 Series In-Circuit Emulators offer you the following benefits:

  • True in-circuit emulation, with full I/O and pheriperal simulation;
  • Step-by-step execution modes and breakpoint handling;
  • Tracing of the source program, read/write memory and registers;
  • Full-featured programming utility (DataBlaze) included;
  • Built-in programming ZIF socket for easy device insertion and extraction.

The VISUALFIVE IDE offers you a user-friendly way to program ST FIVE ICUs, in a Windows environment. The visual and graphical approach provides you an innovative and time-saving solution to develop your project, reducing to the minimum your Assembler code writing and focusing on your control and systemistic aspects. All peripherals configuration can be graphical. The whole project is developed as a flow chart of interconnected blocks, as those managed by ST52: Fuzzy Sets, Fuzzy Algorithms, Mathematical and Assembler Instructions, Boolean Conditions, Peripheral Settings, Interrupt Routines.

The tools are available at the price of EUR 299. Each model’s package include the emulation/programmer unit, a full-featured experiment board, a device sample, the VISUALFIVE IDE, a printed user’s manual and detailed device datasheets.
